Bustles

My wedding gown isn't a huge monster dress, but it does need a bustle. I had no idea there were so many kinds of bustles until I typed in "wedding gown bustles" into Google's search engine. Wow was I in for a big surprise. There are millions of different options ballroom, French, Austrian, pick-up and probably 30 others I haven't even come across yet. So far I'm leaning towards a French bustle but we'll see when I go and meet with a seamstress to get my dress hemmed. It's finally time for me to start thinking about these things. I've only got 3 months left to go.

Goodbye to being single.

This weekend is one of my dearest friends, fellow bride, and last but not least bridesmaid's bachelorette party! The festivities begin this Saturday afternoon. I am so excited! I can not wait to celebrate. We are going to have so much fun. We will have a few drinks and it will be like old times in college when we went to Georgia games all dressed up and had so much fun. *Side note it's traditional for UGA students to dress nice for came days. Polos and dress pants for guys and cute dresses for girls* I can not wait for this weekend!

Double Digits

Wow time seemed to be crawling a few months ago. Now it's moving so fast I can hardly keep up. Gasp I am finally in the double digits. I still have so many things to figure out. Not to mention that in the next few weeks Eric is going to graduate from Law School. Which is another huge life event. I have all the over arcing details decided. Groom, venues, attire, bands, etc. what I need to get working on is what we are having for dinner and drinks. Eric and I went to a tasting not to long ago and had a good time. Now the selections need to be thought of. We also haven't figured out what kind of cake we'd like or what it would look like. I think it will go down like the rest of the wedding process. I do the reconnaissance and come back with my top choices for Eric and I to go over together. With school and work keeping him busy there just isn't enough time in the day for him to look over everything.

Life other than wedding related

Sometimes my job is full of paperwork, but most days it is fun. Today is one of those really great days. I am an interior designer but I also design Pedini Kitchens. This morning we relieved one of Pedini's newest kitchen styles. It's called Dune because it echos sand dunes. It came in this morning in a crate straight out of Indiana Jones. I am so excited, I can't wait for it to come out of the box.

Socks man socks!

source

I love argyle. L-O-V-E it. I wear my argyle sweater vest with pride, among my other sweaters. I especially love it when Eric wears argyle. There is something so preppy and classic about it. So when I saw this post on Elizabeth Ann Designs ages ago I knew I had to find some navy and pink argyle socks for our day. Well I finally found them on The joy of socks.com.

I am so darn excited I can't wait to get them!

Mom attire

I had an easy time finding my dress. Well honestly I didn't exactly know what I wanted so when I did the Running of the Brides It was easy to find something that I could love and looked great on me. For my Bridesmaids it was slightly more challenging. I wanted to find a dress that would look good on all three of them. Now to the most difficult challenge our mothers. The dresses in the stores were either way to old for them (they are in their 50's) or way to young. They too also had some idea on what they wanted, a short dress with a jacket. So after searching all over the internet and asking my girls on the knot. I found some that fit the bill at Nordstrom's. I think they are perfect for a hot August wedding in Georgia. I also think they will look fabulous. They are also under $200.00 so that also makes me feel better. Which makes me wonder, I'm not the only girl getting married so there are plenty of Mom's hunting for dresses why is it so hard to find one that is for a woman in her fifty's that doesn't make her look like a bag of beads.

Invitations

So I went to art school, I am an interior designer for a living, and I have an unhealthy obsession with good quality paper. So I designed my own invitations. I blogged about them here. So months have passed since I made my mock up trial run. Some things have changed. Due to the large quantity of paper I wanted I went with a nicer linen finish paper instead of the expensive metallic paper and changed my envelopes to match. Which I actually like better. It seems to make the color pop a bit more as well as more legible. (which is important because we'd like people to attend this big shindig.) But tonight's the night I'm going to commit, stop redesigning and changing things and hit the "print" button.
