A sigh of relief.

I kind of feel like this penguin. Breathing a sigh of relief. Just on a not life threatening level. I am under the 8 month mark until Eric and I get hitched. And so much has to happen before the big day. Last Saturday we took our Engagement pictures with our amazing photographer, Shannon Wright. It was freezing cold that evening but so much fun. We went all over Atlanta to take our pictures. I can not wait to see them. I was pretty nervous about getting our pictures taken. It's usually us on the other side of the camera.

Another sigh will go for Eric, he landed a job at a law firm. Which is super exciting because as you all know the economy sucks and landing a job is a good start in his professional career. (He graduates from Law School in May.) Finally another, sigh goes to Eric getting to wear a suit everyday to work, and that's a happy sigh.

Interesting Timing

So next Summer Eric and I are getting married. It is also my brother's 30th Birthday. He graciously allowed us to share his birthday. :) What is also pretty cool is next year Eric's parents will have known each other for 30 years that month. :) I believe my parents will have known each other for 35. Not to mention it's my grandparent's 55th wedding anniversary (they are pictured above) and Eric's grandparents 60th! I can only hope that Eric and will be fortunate enough to be together for as long as they are.

Everything Paper!

Mind the carpet, I am just super excited. I have finally finalized the design for our Save the dates and invitations After playing around in Illustrator this is what I've got. I know its a sneaky picture. I don't want to spoil the surprise for my family. I'm really excited about how they came out though. Our Save the Date is a postcard that I got printed from Vistaprint
and I love that company. They came out great. I can't wait to send them out. I will send them out in January so they don't get lost in the Christmas shuffle. I am also thrilled with the final result for our invitations. I wanted a different shape, as well as something that could give our guests all the information for what will be a destination wedding for most of our guests. I've included a reply, reception card, accommodations card and a map. The map took me forever. I drafted it all out in AutoCad then put it into Illustrator. That sounds like a lot but I wanted to give an idea on how awesome the town we are getting married in is. EEEP I'm so excited, now I just need to print a ton of them. I'm not posting pictures of everything because I do want it to be a surprise when I finally send them out. :) I just had to crow a little though.

Wardrobe Malfunction?

I just had to post this because I'm still in shock for so many reasons. This is one of the most unbelievable weddings I have ever seen. I have so many questions, besides the obvious what were they thinking!?! Why is her Maid of Honor's bra exposed, the gigantic blue bridesmaids dresses. The o-so short two piece wedding dress with huge train and why are the men in the family the only ones wearing complete clothes. Was this wedding based in a Vegas show? Just goes to show that a very expensive wedding doesn't mean that it will be tasteful, (interesting-very) the blog that this was originally written in has the price tag at 100,000 pounds. Check out the original blog post here.

Inspiration

So a very talented girl, Chrissymarie on my local Atlanta Knot board made this awesome inspiration board for me! Third one down. I love it. It's beautiful and has given me some more ideas on my own wedding! It's also great to get someone else's take on my colors. Sometimes it's just a breath of fresh air to see someone else's ideas. I love the thank you picture, the amazing blue velvet sette, and the fonts on the invitations. Ok I like all of it!
Above those are two other of her creations. They are so lovely, bright and fresh but very sophisticated and elegant. Thanks Chrissymarie! You've made my night! And gave me the jolt of energy I need to keep on planning!

Dancin' Music

Image from Here.

Music is so important to a great party. It sets the tone for the event and lets everyone know what to expect and if the music is a flop. You can probably bet that the party was too. I have just started my search for what type of Music to have at our wedding. Band or DJ? The pro's and cons to each as well as how much. It all has to be factored in. Especially if I want to get everyone from our grandmothers to our smallest relatives on the dance floor. I know what some basics that I'm looking for in music. They have to be able to play a little of everything. Eric and I's taste in music is all over the place. So it is necessary for us to have classic rock to today's top 40. Oh and throw in a bit of Sinatra during the cocktail hour. You can't have a cocktail hour with out Sinatra. The search has begun and I hope to find someone that can get our guests to rock out at our weddng.

Someday.... Maybe... If I can talk Eric into it.

I'm in love with this adorable dog. It's a French bulldog and I had never seen one until a few days ago. Now I am hoping that one day my life will settle enough that I can have one and well that Eric will let me get one. (He thinks small talks are too girly.) But how could anyone possibly resist such an amazing little animal. He's so-o adorable. I just want to pick it up and hug it. Sigh... someday... maybe...

Photograph

View Erika's awesome wedding on her site.
I've been looking for wedding inspiration lately. I found it on a Atlanta knot bio by SassyErika. She had a beautiful wedding with very personal touches held this past summer. One of my favorite ideas from her wedding is the picture above. What an awesome idea to take a picture with all of your guests. I really think It can be done with the way the chapel Eric and I are getting married at is laid out. I think it is a really great idea, I hope we can do it too.

Bridesmaids

unknown source

So I've purchased my dress. Eric and I think he's found his suit. We also know we want our groomsmen to wear suits. Eric and I both hate bow ties and well a suit is something you can keep and wear again. Now to plot what the girls wear. I know I want them to wear dark blue. I'm not sold on the pink sash's but I like the dark blue with the pink flowers. I also don't want the dresses to cost a small fortune. I really like the top dress from Jcrew but I feel that the dress's from them are limited in the style's they offer. I've got 3 girls to think about and they are all shaped differently, so I don't want them to wear the same thing. I ultimately want everyone in our bridal party to be comfortable and have fun.

Dining By Design

The past few weeks have been very hectic. I've been slammed at work, and home. Finally after a few weeks I've had a second to post about what I've been up to. Every year Atlanta is one of the few cities in the country that hosts a charity event called Dining by Design, for DIFFA (Design Industry foundation fighting Aids). It's an all out affair that brings the best of Atlanta's interior designer's out to design tables that are auctioned off for a dinner event where the proceeds go to DIFFA.
As a bride hunting ideas this event is a great opportunity to see very creative and innovative ideas for tablescapes and flowers. This year marks the 3rd year that my company has done a table for this event. We based our table on Breakfast at Tiffany's and filled our room with Tiffany boxes and white flowers. We also couldn't pass up an opportunity to feature the always classic and elegant Audrey Hepburn. I am an huge fan of Audrey and the film so this was so much fun.
I've also included a few of the other tables that I thought were fantastic. The last table is so much fun and was sponsored by Benjamin Moore paint. The entire space was made of paint chips.
More information on DIFFA and Dining by Design can be found here.

Cake Break

created by M
egPi, more images found on her flickr site.

This cake is amazing, I don't know if Eric would go for a wedding cake as awesome as this one. I bet he would. Maybe scrap wedding I don't want to wait that long. Maybe for my big 2-5 birthday that's coming up soon. I'm sort of addicted to cake lately. I'm making a teddy bear cake for my friends baby shower, and I always have a slight cupcake obsession. This cake though is really phenomenal. I wonder how long it took to make it.

Send Off

I'm not sure where this is from but I love it.

photo from here.
images and info about sparklers from here.
I love the idea of a fare well sendoff. It is one of the few wedding traditions I sort of like. I was wonder though what else is out there to through or sparkle at the Bride and Groom as they leave the reception. I really love the first image with the bubbles. It looks so magical. I think If Eric and I do do a send off I would love a picture of our backs walking out like this. I also think the flower petals are interesting. They seem pretty popular but beautiful. The sparklers could also really make a statement at a night wedding. This is only my beginning for ideas on how to say good bye but it's a start.

Photographs.

I love photography. It can create a great story and evoke such strong emotions. For the past few days I've been searching through my own photos as well as my fiance's looking for some of our best shots to sell at a craft festival at the end of this month. I am excited and a little nervous. Will what I think looks amazing actually sell?

Something old, something new... borrowed...blue

I'm all about changing and mixing up traditions. My Mother is probably exasperated by my antics now. Eric and I aren't very traditional people. We want to shake it up a little. Besides some wedding traditions just seem a little old and dusty. For example..white shoes... for real. My mom thought I had gone mad when I said I wanted at first blue shoes then I switched to bright fuschia ones. I eventually won her over. My shoes are just to fabulous. Well back to my main focus... wedding traditions and the usual something old. something new, something borrowed and something blue. I absolutely love the idea of doing this as drinks. Something old, like a regular martini, something new... maybe some tasty pink concoction with sugar around the edge. Something borrowed-I'm going to get my genius of a drink maker brother to help me here as well as with the something blue. He has amazing drink making skills.
As well as tasting delicious, I think it's a great way to incorporate a tradition but put a spin on it. Ok I'm also a sucker for brightly colored drinks, and they sound perfect for a summer wedding.

Megan's Wedding

I was lucky enough this past August to attend a friends gorgeous beach wedding in Pensacola, Florida. Megan and Scott had a beautiful beach ceremony that was filled with lots of love and emotion. It was very sweet and you could really tell how happy and in love this couple is. They rented a huge beach house for to hold the reception immediately following the ceremony. Drinking and Dancing on the expansive back deck over looking the ocean, wonderful and colorful tables were where dinner was served underneath the stilted house. It was a very intimate gathering of all of their friends and family. I was happy to have been apart of such a beautiful evening. It was one of the best weddings I've attended. Had Eric and I wanted a beach wedding, Megan and Scott had the right idea rent a house and throw a great party to celebrate their happiness.

The photographers at this wedding really did capture the magical moments of the night well. Beach Bum Photography did a marvelous job. All the images above were taken by them.

Candy Candy Candy

from Martha Stewart.com
I also really like the labels on all the jars. I'm not sure weather it's a "logo" for the Bride and Groom or tells the type of candy. Either way it's super cute.
I really love this yellow candy bar. It just screams summer and fun.
I am not sure where I found most of these photographs. If anyone knows and wants credit just let me know.
I love candy. The idea of a candy bar really interests me. A table full of beautiful and different shaped jars filled with assorted candies. That is a small piece of heaven for me. I also love the idea that the candy could be in our wedding colors. It seems like such a colorful and festive way to add color to our wedding day. I'm not sure if it's in the cards for Eric and I to have a candy bar. We still have so many decisions to make. I do really love the idea though. It may also be my sweet tooth though.

Gift giving

Eric's new toy
So I love giving gifts. I absolutly love to search out what I think would be a fantastic gift for someone buy it and hold it to the best possible moment to give whatever I deem the "perfect" gift for that person. Well this weekend I found the best deal ever. My Fiance loves watches. It's his male jewelry he says. I can wear earrings, rings, necklaces.... he gets two pieces. A wedding band that is in drawer waiting for our fateful day and watches. So this weekend in my wonderful search for something interesting to wear on our wedding day or for any thing really. I stumbled upon a amazing find.. big watch. This is something that Eric has been secretly pining for. I asked the lady at the jewelry counter to see it. To my utter astonishement it was much less then I expected, it was exactly the giagantor watch that Eric wanted. I had to buy it or forever regret that I let such a deal slip through my grubby paws. As soon as I left the store I could hardly keep my excitment down. I had to give my gift. Alas I can never hold on to a gift for long. I met up with Eric and gave him his watch. Which he was so excited it made my day.

Deliciousness

photo from flickr by bokchoyboy
from MarthaStewart.com

I love to cook. I especially love to bake. I have been looking for something new to try my hand at and I think I've found it. Parisian Macaroons. Don't they look delicious. Just looking at the pictures is making me hungry. I have a serious sweet tooth. I found the recipe on Martha Stewart's website. With the long labor day weekend ahead of me I hope to make a little time to make them. You can find all the how to on it here.

Somewhere Beautiful

Photo from istockphoto

Now who wouldn't want to spend a week in Portofino, Italy. Living it up in a seaside hotel or villa. Swimming in the beautiful blue sea. Sounds heavenly to me or a scene from an old movie. I'm not sure where Eric and I will go for our honeymoon. There are a lot of questions that need to be answered before we can figure that one out. A girl can dream though right.

Centerpieces

I'm not sure where I found this one.

I'm not sure where I found this picture but I love it.

from the www.theknot.com

from www.Lanielizabeth.com

I love the idea of having a ton of pink flowers in many different shades and a few different varieties. I think it would be so beautiful. Not to mention smell lovely. The second picture is truly my favorite. I think it is just gorgeous and I would love to create it for our own wedding centerpieces. Maybe just a little smaller for the tables. I also love the tea lights in the glass holders. I think having candles on the tables is a must have. I love soft glow of candles it creates such a romantic feel. I also adore the bouquet that's pictured. I am so excited to have such a vibrant color for our wedding. I can't wait to buy some flowers for a test run.

Tying the Knot

photo above by Kristen Spencer Photography
the other photographs are from theknot.com
I love bright colors and interesting patterns. I am so excited that Eric will be wearing a fun colorful tie on our wedding day. I went browsing through the web to find images groom's wearing bright ties. The last picture is my absolute favorite. That tie is amazing. I wish I knew where it was from. I think Eric would love it. I also like the fuschia boutinare. I don't think Eric would want one so big. It seems a but much but the color is fabulous.
