Horray decisions being made.

This past Saturday was amazing. For one thing finally the rain has gone away and it was beautiful and sunny. For a second thing we were going to Athens to pick out selections at our caterer, for food, linens etc... I talked about it here. Well we did all of that list. I'm keeping our choices quiet since some of my family reads my blog. Somethings need to be a surprise. Lets just leave it at we left and went and got food because it made us hungry it sounded so good.

We also picked out our cake flavors. This information I will divulge. We are going the non traditional route. We are only having one Wedding cake (no grooms cake) and it's going to be CHOCOLATE! Yum. Chocolate with chocolate chips, with chocolate ganache and fresh sliced strawberries in the center covered in white buttercream icing. I am drooling. Eric who I have converted in to a cake eater really wanted chocolate. I as a cake-aholic couldn't resist. I am really excited about it. Oh and the design for it is going to be awesome. I can't wait to see it.

In other wedding related checks. We booked our rehersal dinner location. I am really excited about it. It's the restaurant that Eric took me to the night he proposed The Last Resort. It is one of the best restaurants in Athens. I am looking forward to sharing that restaurant with our bridal party and parents.

Red Wing Love

Source

I love hockey and I really love the Detroit Red Wings! They hold a special place in my heart and tonight is the first game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They are playing against the Pittsburgh Penguins. I grew up watching Wings games with my Dad. It has been one of the things we've done together and something that I look forward to doing every year. I was born in Michigan and a lot of my family still lives there. I just had to put a little hockey love on my blog. I hope they win again this year. Goooo WINGS! (I'm off to go watch the game. :)

Decor

I am not sure where I pulled this picture from. I've had it since I first started planning my wedding 'gasp' over a year ago. But I love how it looks. It is what I hope my tables look like at my own wedding. Except a little brighter on the pinks. Eric and I will be using the same chairs as well. The table linens will be a little brighter with white and a blue runner running across. I think it will ad just enough color. This chairs and table linens are what I am going to Athens for this Saturday. Now to begin thinking of table numbers designs. I had an idea but then changed it. Back to the drawing board, or in my case adobe illustrator.

Yum Food

source

This weekend is going to be filled with wedding related things. One of the things on my checklist to do is one that I have been waiting for and am really excited about. Food! (and the bar, along with the dance floor, chairs and linens) I am really excited. Eric and I will be making the drive to Athens to meet with our the catering company this Saturday. We are going to be make all the food selections for our wedding. What kind of appetizers do we want to have. What will be the main course for dinner. What kind of drinks will be available at the bar. We will possible too pick out our cake. I am really excited about that one. I puffy-heart love cake. We've talked about a lot of theses things but need to make some choices on Saturday. Sigh, I am so hungry now.

Congratulations Eric!

Congratulations Eric!

Today my fiance is graduating from Law School. I am so proud of him. It's been a long and paper filled 3 years but he did it. I can't wait to see where he goes from here, but I'm glad I'm along for the ride.
Except for this summer while he's studying for the bar exam. I'll be with him in spirit, to bring him Diet Coke-cola while he studies for it and cheer him on when he goes to take it.

Veiled in mystery

So I am a bride who doesn't like veils. I'm just not a fan. I think the traditional veil is not my style. It's to much. It's to big. It's makes me feel like I'm going on a safari. I know my Mother was heart broken when I said I wasn't going to wear one. She and I had many, many, many talks about it. So for the past year and a half I've been strong about my stance on NO veil. Until... I found something I really did like and it got me thinking. It swayed me and slowly made me switch gears and change my tune. Finally I had to talk to the one person who's view of me on that day means the most, Eric. I showed him what I ordered. He said He likes it and thinks its cool and will suit my style. He also was worried that I would look like I was fighting off mosquitoes on some African hike. I'll save the post of where my veil is from and who made it for when it gets here. Let's just say I'm really excited. For now I'll just show you the picture that changed my tune. Thanks Budget Savvy Bride for the inspiration.

Guest Book

Source

Our wedding is approaching fast, really fast. I have a lot of DIY projects and other wedding related things that I still need to check off of my list. More on those ever growing lists later. For now I want to talk about my current project. Our guest book. By our wedding day Eric and I will be shy of 6 years by two weeks. That being said I wanted to share with our families and friends some of the things that we have done together, notes we've written each other. First date ticket stubs and pictures of places we've traveled together. I have saved tons of this stuff. I'm a pack rat, and for the last few months I have tracked a lot of it down. I've scanned all of them and have started importing it into a Blurb book.

It has been a fun journey reflecting on our first dates, vacations, Game days and costume parties that we've done over the years. I was inspired ages ago by Deanna and Jesse's guest book as seen above. I still have a few more years to go before I send my book to print but so far so good. I also don't know where this summer will take us so I'll wait a while until I send it.

Invitation fiasco

So-o a few weeks ago I wrote that I finally hit the print button for my invitations. I talked about it here, and you can see the outside of them here. While I did press print and made all of the invitations I did have a few hiccups. 1st one was typo, that lovely Eric noticed after I had printed them all out and trimmed them down. Send to reprint. Oiy. It was a terrible night. I wanted to cry I had been working for hours and after a while you just don't see mistakes. I had had him read over them but I guess he missed it the first go around. Oh well. Reprint, retrim. Luckily I had bought more than enough paper. (I know myself.) So Take 2. They are done and assembled. Everything is looking good. I go to bed. I wake up Monday morning. Read one of my blog staples weddingbee and realize through a fellow wedding bloggers oops, that I did the same oops. I didn't put the address of my ceremony location anywhere. How did I not catch this, I pondered. What the hell. So a little redesigning, a little easy adjustment and a little more reprinting. I did figure having the ceremony address would be very beneficial. So after a few mistakes, some extra paper. They are all finished. I figured I'd right this short story to fess up to my DIY that has taken over my life, but is perfect now and almost out the door.
Moral of the story: don't print late at night.

Shoes!

Source

I love shoes. I have a lot of them. In many shapes, colors, heights. You name the color or style I probably own it. So it can be said that even though my wedding dress is really important. My shoe choice ranked slightly higher. Besides I knew I wanted a pair of bright pink shoes so I could wear them after our wedding and always remember our wedding day when I wore them. My wedding shoes have already been purchased. I love them. Though it does not keep me from searching for other shoes for other occasions or just because. That's when I came across Modista it allows me to search many different shoe sites based on price, style, color, and size. I think I'm in shoe heaven.
