Digital boards

My good friend, former bridesmaid, just recently purchased her first home with her new husband.  She asked for some ideas.  I created these digital boards to help inspire her. She picked out the bed linens and I chose the rest.  Sherwin Williams online painting site helped me help her visualize her bedroom with paint colors and new furniture. I love creating digital boards, it helps people see the forest from the trees and it's fun for me.
The bedroom linen's are from Macy's I believe. I did these a while ago so I can't remember where I got the other items.

More furniture

I have now realized that my design beast is still not satisfied. The day after I changed around our living room I decided I didn't like our bedroom furniture anymore either. The problem is I would love new furniture, but don't want to buy new stuff since we will be renting for another year, and we are trying to save money for a house. But, like my Mom  has always said, paint is cheap. So I am rolling around the idea of painting our furniture. Our current furniture has been in my possession for about 12 years. It's very traditional and not really my style anymore. (Thank you Mom and Dad for buying me nice real wood furniture though.)  My husband also goes reminded me if it all backfires we'll get new furniture anyway. It's a win win for you.  So I think I might take the dark oak dresser, nightstand and headboard and paint them black. Change the hardware and voila new stuff.  I'm pretty optimistic. I'm also pretty crafty so I'm going to give it a shot.  This is sort of what I would like my finished dresser to be.

My boredom creates a monster

So for a while I've been wanting to update our living room. It  is still not what I would love it to be because my husband was still in school. (Anyone who's gone to college knows what a drain on the income that is. and so was I for a while) Also our current digs were temporary so I figured why keep updating them.  Well I finally just had it. I was bored this Sunday and the design beast was growling and begging me to do something about it. So I hit the stores and wanted to see what I could do on a minimal budget. After all we are moving in a few months and I don't want to do anything that can't move or is built around what where we live now.  So I ended up finding a new coffee table. Our old one was from college a 25 dollar target find. Not to mention I kept busting my shins on it. I also wanted a new rug, for the same for the same reason as the coffee table.  By the time I was finished I realized I didn't like the drapes I had up either so I swapped them out. They aren't the same as in the photography but the purple brown thing is the same.  Insert existing Umbra bowl and viola my design beast is fed for a while and I surprised my husband with our new living room updates.

Almost 6 months in.

So I've almost been married 6 months.  It's been amazing and time has really flown. Though I now realize I had forgotten my blog and need to get back to it. I'm still keeping my old wedding in the blog. It was so much fun I dont' want it to go away, but I am now longer stressing about flowers, dresses and hair. I'm going back to what I love, design, graphics, electronics. furniture and anything else that catches my fancy.

The past few months have been very hectic for me and for my husband. (Still a little weird typing that.)  Our first holidays this year as a married couple were great. Though we have had some tragic and sad thing happen to us too.  My husband lost his grandma in October. We drove up in time to say goodbye. She was a fantastic woman and lived a great life. Even though I only had the opportunity to know her for the time I've known my husband she was a great person and touched many lives.
My husband and I were also robbed in December... let me just say that just totally sucks. Some things that were taken were irreplaceable some things we can get back. The whole situation sucks and the fact that I feel that someone went Christmas Shopping in my home still irritates the crap out of me.
Through the robbing fiasco my husband and I were trying to decide if we wanted to buy a new house, and move from the burbs to the actual city proper. We were so upset at being robbed and just wanted to get the hell out of where we live currently. We then realized that we didn't really want to buy something until we lived in the city first.  One big step at a time. So we now have a plan. Some new goals and hopefully soon in the near future we will be homeowners. For now we'll rent another year, move to the city in the summer and try to enjoy life.  That's been my life in a nutshell. Now on to things that make me happy...
